The '02 and '03 supposedly have transmission oiling issues if you sustain high rpm's in 5th gear. Miles and I never had problems with our '03's, but there have been several threads on other forums where the tranny locked up and destroyed there cases. There was also something else the '02 model had trouble with but I don't remember right now. All in all, I loved my crf and plan on getting another eventually. Probably try to get an '05-'07 this time around though.
