Questions for Todh116 or anyone else!

Hey,
1st -- Have you ever taken your FJR for a real long trip?
I am talking about a two week run. Whitewolf and I are heading out on 26th of May to go to Colorado and then to Yellowstone park.
2nd -- If you have, how did the bike feel after a day of riding?
I am talking about 500 miles.
3rd -- Did your's have any problems?
4th -- Do you have any suggestions for me on such a long trip?

I figured the information you give me will benifit anyone else that is curious about sport-touring. That is why I am asking her and not pm'ing.
Thank you for your insight.

I can help answer this, hope you don't mind. I ride a different bike though. I did the trip recently to Daytona for Bike Week, had a blast and it was really fun. The Concour was great for the trip I was realy glad that I put a Top Box on it for the trip. On that part the one thing that I noticed on such a long trip was that I did not have enough room when I came back so next time I would either get more items to carry more stuff or I would ship the things I did not need on the ride back shipped.

There are a few things that are great to have on a long trip though. Here is part of my list.

Tire Repair Kit
First Aid Kit
12v Airpump (I still don't have)
Small cooler (only to hold like 2-3 drinks)
Small snack (like Beef Jerky)
Ibueprofen (for those road sores)
Rain Gear or Weather Proof Gear

Suggested items for a group trip.

GPS (just got a Zumo 550 myself)
Bike to Bike Com system
Cup holder (Todd has one!! I don't)

I am sure there are other detailed things I am leaving out but that is the short list.

A friend of mine took a trip to Alaska on his FJR a couple of years ago. He had a passenger with him and did in the neighborhood of 15,000 miles in 5-6 weeks. He said he averaged over 500 miles a day. He said he couldn't have picked a better bike for the trip.

I know this is an old post but I'm curious how the ride went. I just got a 2007 FJR and haven't gone on any really long rides yet, but I have been refining the bike to make the rides I take more comfortable. I usually take 200-500 mile trips in one day mostly backroads, I try to avoid the interstate unless there isnt any other way without a big detour.
